"Enero Tilcareño": preparing to the Carnival

Enero Tilcareño, the pre-carnival. For 60 years this traditional festival has called locals and people from all over the country. It is a cultural event that brings together artists from different fields throughout the Quebrada de Humahuaca and especially those from Tilcara.

Every weekend in January the museums open their doors, the central square gathers artisans and musicians, the couplers temper their boxes and the dancers throb to the rhythm of zambas, chacareras and carnavalitos. The whole family, both that of the Tilcareños, and that of the tourists, amalgamate in this party that in 2017 celebrates 60 years of history. And so the authorities promise. A January Tilcareño "spectacular!", With internationally renowned artists adorning the central stage, with traveling art exhibitions, exhibitions and debates in museums and many more surprises.

The first weekend of January is the grand opening.
